Start with white. “It makes a home feel larger and fresh and allows all the colors infused with it to shine even brighter,” Simonpietri says. While black may not seem the obvious choice for a kids’ space, the mature hue pops in graphic patterns thanks to the open, white foundation.
Make space for play. Bunk beds are a genius choice because kids love them and they open up a crucial element in any play area. “We like to give kids and parents loads of areas for floor-play time,” Simonpietri says. “Layering sheepskin rugs and comfy pillows allows parents to take to the floors almost as easily as kids do.”
Add elements of surprise. If you want a room to scream “fun,” then it must surprise and delight from the get-go. Floating triangle decals haphazardly arranged by Simonpietri and her team do the trick here. In lieu of an overhead light fixture or ceiling fan, hanging model airplanes appear to soar in formation through the room
